Why Flex Guiders

Updated: Apr 30

Don't turn your bike into a trike - they ride totally different

Regular training wheels create dependency and make the transition to a regular bike confusing. Why? Rigid training wheels do not allow for the natural motion of a bicycle. Because the rider is restricted from leaning into their turns to keep their balance, they end up getting forced to the outside of their turns and rely on the rigid support of the training wheel, which is exactly the opposite of what they need to be doing. This habit is really challenging to un-learn.

The best way to learn something is to practice - Striders are not quite bikes

Kids take months and sometimes years of riding balance "bikes" before they are ready to try riding a bike.  Why?  Because they don't get any practice riding an actual bike. For most kids, without practice, the muscle memory and strength to pedal a bike doesn't develop until they are much older. This is why many parents think their kid is going to take off on a bicycle after they've mastered the strider only to find that its a frustrating struggle.

Let them ride - getting the feel for actual riding with Flex Guiders

Flex Guiders give just enough support to enable your little one to practice riding a bike.  They will have a blast as they lean into their turns, pedal and steer just like mom and dad. This is the fastest and easiest way to learn because it gives them them the whole biking experience but provides enough support to make the learning process digestible. The adjustability comes in to allow more advanced riders to gradually transition to independent riding. Just like reading, the best and fastest way to learn is gradually.
